It can be a good idea for many sites, but don't forget that multiple pages allow for bookmarking. So any site that might have potential bookmarks would want to avoid this
Good point. I should have made explicit mention of this. Any approach like this would still require the ability to call up the content that is displayed at any time via a unique URL.
A site could provide "bookmark this" controls to allow capture of the specific URL, but the real challenge would be to update the browser's location without a page request. The approach also has significant implications when it comes to search engine indexing and SEO, but these things could be worked out, I'm sure. |
